2017 Reefer Boot

The Reefer Boot takes the unique demands of wakestyle kiting and combines them with the performance of a dedicated wake boot. Traditional wake boots are not designed for the relentless use that kiteboarding places on them so we have examined every aspect and made fundamental improvements.

The Reefer Boot features increased padding of the inner and foot bed, along with additional reinforcing in key high wear areas and increased stiffening in the ankle area of the boot. These key upgrades take the performance of what was already the ultimate kite specific binding, to a whole new level. By introducing the new flex zone, the Reefer Boot’s comfort, support and rigidity is optimized. This flex zone reduces the strain on the binding for improved long term performance.

The articulated upper allows us to control the flex between the upper and lower part of the foot. This creates a perfect balance between mobility and support. For 2017 a combination of webbing and neoprene reinforcing connect the upper and lower boot for increased durability.

KITE SPECIFIC REINFORCING

Kiteboarding places specific loads when compared to a traditional wake boot due to the longer typical use. Airush bindings have been reinforced in all key areas – such as the toe cap and upper base plate connection – through a heavy-duty double stitched connection. For 2017 additional stiffening and reinforcing have been added to the direct drive base plate and stiffening bar.

The combination of the aluminum stiffening bar and triangulated fiber-reinforced base plate, drive the load directly into the board with minimum distortion and flex which guarantees perfect response to rider input. For 2017 increased fiber content in the baseplate and increased thickness of the stiffening bar, significantly improve the rider connection and durability.

We worked extensively to fine-tune the density and memory capabilities of our foam for our footbed and inner boot. The result is supreme comfort with long lasting performance. All bindings have the new ultra-cushion inner with increased overall thickness for additional support.

The heel lock system keeps your foot firmly connected to the footbed. Even under the heaviest boosting and landing, the updated injection-molded rubber part increases load distribution, comfort and torsion response around your Achilles.

The updated dual density footbed creates a soft primary layer that contours to your individual foot shape for maximum comfort, while the denser secondary layer absorbs the high impact landing and prevents the footbed from bottoming out.
