Baby Shark is back on top!
Having previously claimed victory in Macapá, the Brazilian Big Air specialist has done it again, taking the 2026 title in a fiercely competitive field. With the level of riding higher than ever, a sixth-place finish in the world rankings and his sights set on the upcoming Red Bull events, Baby Shark is pushing his limits and continuing to evolve.
We caught up with him to talk about his latest victory, his progression and what's next.
Back on top! You've won the Macapá Big Air a few times before, and now you've done it again in 2026. What made this year's competition special, and how did you approach the event?
This year was particularly special. The level of riding was insane, with so many young riders pushing the limits. Competing alongside so many friends made the experience even more memorable. Having won Macapá before, coming back and taking the title again in 2026 was an incredible feeling!
Pushing the limits. Your riding has evolved considerably over the past few years. How has your approach to Big Air changed, and what are you currently working on to take your riding to the next level?
Definitely. When I was younger, my main focus was on having fun and enjoying every session. Now, I think much more about overall performance, including timing, technique, control and consistency, as well as knowing when to push my limits and when to play it safe.
I'm currently focused on making my tricks cleaner and more technical, improving my consistency with high-level kiteloops and board-offs, and developing new combinations. Working with the Airush team to prototype new equipment, like the upcoming Lithium Air and Lift Air, has also played a big part in my progression this year.
What's next for Baby Shark? With another Macapá Big Air title under your belt, what are your goals for the rest of the season? Are there any particular tricks, competitions or milestones you're focused on achieving?
My main focus now is on the upcoming Red Bull competitions. After moving up to sixth in the world rankings, I want to finish the season strong and focus on the big events, particularly Red Bull Megaloop and Red Bull King of the Air. My goal is to perform well while continuing to push my riding and develop new tricks with Airush.
I'm also working on some new tricks and combinations that I hope to bring into competition. I don't want to reveal too much just yet, but they're definitely pushing my limits!
