Rider Spotlight - Aylu Goldberger

From the windswept shores of Buenos Aires to some of the world's most iconic kite destinations, Aylu Goldberger has built a life driven by passion, adventure, and purpose. Combining her love for kitesurfing with an entrepreneurial spirit, she has carved out a unique path that extends far beyond competition and progression on the water. Through her riding, travel experiences, and community initiatives, Aylu inspires others to challenge expectations, embrace freedom, and pursue a life aligned with their values. We caught up with Aylu to learn more about her journey, what drives her, and where the wind might take her next.

Who is Aylu Goldberger beyond the water, and how did kitesurfing first come into your life?

Since I was a child, I’ve always loved to be in the water. I would spend hours in the pool or in the ocean, and in any sport outside of the water I could do, I was there.

I’ve also always been drawn to entrepreneurship, creating my own projects, and in some way sharing what I love and everything good that comes into my life. I’ve always naturally cared deeply for the people I love, and I truly believe that life is so much more beautiful when it is shared.

I never really liked fitting into imposed rules or following things just because I was told to. That led me to question a lot of what is socially accepted and to search for a lifestyle that truly aligned with what I wanted.

Kitesurfing came into my life during a period of major change: I had just finished school and at the same time I quit professional handball. I’ve always been very competitive in sports and I love giving my best in everything I do.

My brother had started kitesurfing a year before me, and in December 2016 (at almost 18 years old) I decided to take lessons in the Río de la Plata, in Buenos Aires. From the very beginning, it became an addiction, I would cancel any plan just to catch the little wind we had.

That’s when the idea of dedicating myself 100% to kitesurfing started to grow: following wind seasons, competing, and working with brands aligned with my values. Since I had been an entrepreneur since I was 17, I combined my two passions, sport and entrepreneurship, and turned it into this lifestyle that shaped me and brought me to where I am today.

How would you describe your riding style right now, and what disciplines are you most drawn to?

I’ve always loved playing in the water. That’s why I naturally leaned towards freeride and freestyle: trying different maneuvers, exploring unconventional tricks, and enjoying every session.

Big air is also something I deeply love. The feeling of being in the air for so long, seeing everything from a different perspective, is truly unique.

What’s been the biggest breakthrough moment in your progression so far?

I’ve had several breakthrough moments, as it usually happens in any journey: you progress, reach a point where you feel stuck, need to develop new skills, and then you progress again.

At the same time, having to work to fund my travels and life (and at the beginning also my equipment) meant I couldn’t always dedicate 100% of my time to kitesurfing and had to split my energy. Over time, I understood that this also gave me valuable tools and a broader vision of what I was building.

It wasn’t just about training to compete and collaborating with brands through sponsorships or partnerships across different industries, but something bigger: being able to inspire others to challenge themselves and dare to do what they want.

Competitions and travels helped me grow my reach, but where I truly feel connected to what I love is in the day-to-day: with Kite Girls Argentina, with Gold Trips, with my social media, and with events. That’s where the real connection with people happens.

What moves me the most is empowering others to trust themselves.

What are you currently working on or trying to unlock in your riding?

Right now, I’m working on enjoying the water again without so much internal pressure or expectations. Just going in, riding, and enjoying each session.

Favourite kite spot and what makes it special to you?

It’s hard to choose just one because there are several places that have deeply marked me.

Tarifa has a very special energy and so many options beyond kiting. It’s definitely a place where I could imagine living.

Brazil has given me so much. It’s a perfect destination for kitesurfing, with a huge variety of conditions and experiences. That’s why I’ve been going there for years, spending multiple seasons.

Buenos Aires is my home spot, and I really enjoy riding with the people I started with, my friends, and my local community.

And Los Roques together with the Red Sea, Egypt  are two incredible spots that, if you ever have the chance to visit, I highly recommend.

What does your current go-to setup look like, and how does it influence your riding?

My current setup is: Airush Lift 9m kite, Diamond 136cm twintip, and the Magnum control system.

The Lift 9m was the first Airush kite I ever tried and it completely blew my mind. It’s exactly what I was looking for: great hangtime, very comfortable and intuitive. It recovers really well and allows me to do everything I want on the water, whether it’s big air, freeride, downwinds, or even teaching.

The Diamond board is super light and comfortable, which makes riding feel very smooth and natural.

Tell us about aylugold.trips - what it is, how it started, and what you want it to become?

We are not a conventional travel agency, we create different experiences in exotic and lesser-known destinations, combining luxury and adventure. Curating each destination in advance and allowing people to experience it like a local.

Aylu Gold Trips is my way of giving back to this sport everything it has given me: the opportunity to travel doing what I love, meet incredible people from all over the world, and share experiences with people who, despite having different lives, share the same passions.

It makes me very happy to bring people closer to kitesurfing and open the doors to this lifestyle, and in dream destinations such as Egypt, Greece, Los Roques, Brazil, and more!

How does kitesurfing shape your lifestyle off the water?

Today, kitesurfing is present in every aspect of my life: from nutrition, training, and travel, to relationships, work, and decisions. It is a constant guide in everything I do.

What story are you trying to tell through your content and personal brand?

Through my personal brand, together with Gold Trips and Kite Girls Argentina, the women’s community I founded in 2023 with the goal of empowering more women to dare to do what they love, the purpose is the same:

To inspire, connect, and empower people to go after what they want, without fear of age, limitations, or not being enough. Especially women who feel they need a man by their side in order to do it.

I want to show that we all can, no matter where we come from, what we’ve done before, or what we were told we “should be.”

Opening the doors to my world is, in a way, sharing confidence and showing that there is another way of living: a life outside the office, without giving up quality or ambition. It’s about questioning and daring to take the first step.
